Our story

Hello friends, and welcome to Simply Provisions! We’re a family that makes soap together, and everything you see here comes out of our kitchen.

It all started with a date night. We signed up for a soapmaking class on a whim, figuring it would be a fun way to spend an evening, and we had a great time. The soaps we made that night were 100% coconut oil with a few simple additions: orange essential oil and orange peel powder in one, lavender essential oil and rose hip powder in the other. We loved planning them and watching them come together, and we left wanting to do it again.

So we did. We read everything we could get our hands on, and before long the hobby had taken over a corner of our kitchen (as well as any spare storage space in the house!). Every batch is a chance to try something new with color and scent, and no two come out exactly the same. That doesn’t mean they are all successes though! A few have gone so wrong that we had to sadly toss the whole thing. Each time, though, we learn a little more and push ourselves to try new techniques.

After a handful of test batches, we settled on a few base recipes we really like, and we keep the ingredients as simple as we can. Friends and family kept telling us we should sell them, so here we are.

We hope you enjoy using these as much as we enjoy making them.

Ingredients and care

Our soap is true soap, made from oils, butters and fats combined with lye (sodium hydroxide) through saponification. Each bar's full ingredient list is on the Soaps page.

To help a bar last longer, keep it on a draining dish between uses.
